Our teddies are all on their way home. It would be good to get some photos of the teddy bear welcome when they arrive home after a year of travelling across Europe.

But his favourite part of his holiday was definately his visit to Carrow Road where Norwich City Football Club play. He loved going to the match and seeing the team win!

He really wanted to meet Darren Huckerby who Pulham School's bear is named after but he wasn't there that day!

Hello everyone! Here in Spain, we are all back to work. Odysseas had a great time at the beach with some of our students. They went to the Spanish coast, had 'paella' and played with the sand. The weather was too hot, but they spent a lot of time enjoying the sea. Here you have some pictures of their summer holidays. Good luck with this new school year!

Tony enjoyed watching all the exciting races at Sports Day. The children enjoyed him being there to support all the teams. It was a lovely sunny day and we all had a wonderful time!

Tony in Spain

Tony is already flying to England after its stay in Spain. With Tony's help, we decorated Easter Eggs and they all looked great. Here you have some pictures. In Spain, our Easter celebrations are quite different. We have religious events in every village or town, and we eat 'Torrijas' (Fried slices of bread and milk). We hope you like the pics.

Odysseas in Edinburgh

Lauren, Tyler and Rebecca took Odysseas into Edinburgh to give the bear a grand tour to Scotland's capital. As you can see he had a great time! Odysseas was able to step back in history and find out about Edinburgh's past. Edinburgh Castle Open top bus gives Odysseas a chance to see the sights of Edinburgh.

On Thursday 21st May children at Pulham Primary School went to our local church in Pulham Market for the Ascension Service. Reverend Norman led the service and made it very enjoyable for everyone. Andy enjoyed listening to the story he told and meeting Norman at the end.

Children had to sort smarties into colours and draw graphs to show their results. Children in Class 1 did some finger painting to show how many of each coloured smartie they had. Andy loved helping them with this.

Pulham Primary School Maths Day!

On Tuesday 19th May we had our first maths day at Pulham School. Children were divided into their four house groups and did 4 different activities involving measure, shape and art, games and investigations and data handling. Andy also joined in with the activities and enjoyed using different maths skills to do them. We all had a fantastic day!

Andy had a great time at the swimming pool with Class 3 this week. We think he enjoyed it as much as Carlos did when he came! He said he was very impressed with how well all of Class 3 swam and thought they all did very well to jump in!

Trash Fashion Show

Primaries six and seven put on a Trash Fashion Show for parents on Wednesday, 11th February. The idea was to show how pupils could use materials they would normally throw away to make fashion items. Both Tony and Coco were there. This is a short clip of the final section entitled Homecoming Scotland 2009. Tony and Coco are wearing outfits from recycled materails. Tony has a kilt and hat and Coco has a hat made from old newspaper. See if you can spot them!

Carlos has had a lovely week in Pulham. On Monday school was closed due to some very snowy weather so he had a day off to relax. He has been joining in with lots of lessons across the school and learning lots of new things.

This afternoon he went to his first swimming lesson with Class 4. As you can see he had all the right equipment. The children said he had a lovely time watching them all in their lessons. He really enjoyed going on the bus to get there and back too. He thought it was a really fun afternoon.

Peace Day

Hello everyone! I'm Andy, from Scotland. These days I am visiting Spain. Although I'm not being very lucky with the weather (it's been a bit snowy lately...) I'm really enjoying my stay here.

Last week we celebrated Peace Day. During the week, some pairs of children (called 'peace messengers') went to all the classes reading 'the day's slogan' (something all the students had to bear in mind during the whole day). We took a picture of one of these moments.

After a week working on collaboration, good behaviour, etc..., last friday we went out and celebrated Peace Day elaborating a 'human drawing': a dove, a rainbow and the word 'Peace' in Spanish ('PAZ'). Marivi, one of the english teachers, took me with her, so that I could enjoy this celebration with all the kids (specially the young ones, who were delighted with my presence!) I hope you like the pictures!

We are delighted to welcome Tony to Scotland. We will make sure he has lots of adventures. Next Wednesday Primaries 6 & 7 are having a trash fashion show. Outfits have been made using recycled materials. Tony has been invited and will have a guest of honour place!

Carlos in England

Carlos is having a lovely time so far in England. He has been enjoying lots of fun school activities and joining the children in lessons. In the Reception / Year 1 class children have a role play area. To celebrate Chinese New Year this is currently a Chinese restaurant. Carlos had a wonderful afternoon playing with the children in there. He has joined the other classes in lessons and on Friday went on a school trip to Duxford Imperial War Museum near Cambridge with Class 5 who are learning about World War 2 in History lessons. Some pictures will be available soon.

He is hoping to have a school dinner this week and go swimming with Class 4 too.

Homecoming Scotland 2009 - Robert Burns

The 25th January is celebrated throughout Scotland as Burns Day. This year is the 250th celebration of his birth. We consider him our National Bard and hold Burns Suppers as a means of reciting his poetry and singing his songs. 'Auld Lang Syne' is probably his best known poem and is often sung at the end of one year into the next. Traditionally, a Burns Supper would have haggis, neeps and tatties as the second course of the meal. The haggis is piped in and 'The Address to the Haggis'is recited. Unfortunately, Tony has yet to arrive in Scotland, so we have used Coco instead. Coco attended the Burns Assembly and went to Burns cottage. We also have a photo of Coco with a Haggis. Coco goes to Alloway, where Robert Burns was born. Robert Burns was born in this house. This is his kitchen. He was born in this bed.His father taught Robert to read. This is Coco with a haggis.Coco enjoys haggis and neeps!

Odysseas is getting ready to enjoy his holidays.He won't have to go to school for about 14 days,from the 24th December,to the 7th of January!Lucky you Odyssea! On the 24th December he is going to sing carols from door to door and get candies and sweets,like melomakarona and kourabiedes.He knows that melomakarona are made with honey(melo=meli=honey) because life is so sweet and kourabiedes are cookies with icing sugar all around them, like the Christmas snow.Yammy aren't they?

Le Jour de Noël

Je m'appelle Coco. Toute notre famille se rassemble pour fêter Noël les 24 et 25 décembre. C'est un signe de solidarité et de joie. Le gui est une tradition, on le met sur la poignée de la porte . Ce moment est très festif. Le lendemain, les enfants suspendent des chaussettes. Après, le Père Noël les remplit de bonbons. (C'est une histoire que l'on raconte aux plus jeunes; le Père Noël arrive par la cheminée, il se brûle les fesses car la cheminée est allumée ).Il dépose les cadeaux au pied du sapin. Le lendemain, les enfants ouvrent les cadeaux. Ils sont très contents.

We decorate the school corridors and put up a Christmas tree. Huckerby really enjoyed looking at it!

Some of our teachers make a role play area in our classroom where we can dress up as different characters and play. In Class 1 and Class 3 these have a Christmas theme at the moment, Huckerby enjoyed playing with the children.

Other classrooms are decorated in different ways.

Our teachers make displays in our classrooms to celebrate the story of Christmas.

At our school we all send each other Christmas cards, we post them in the letter box and then children in Year Six (the oldest children) deliver them.

Today our bear came to school for the first time to join in all the Christmas fun. We live near Norwich so we have chosen a Norwich City Football Club bear to represent our school. The children all enjoyed meeting him today and they even voted for a name for him in assembly.

He is called Huckerby after a famous Norwich player who lots of the children admire. Here is a picture of our bear.

Getting ready for Christmas

Hello friends! Here in Spain we're getting ready for Christmas. Carlos, our teddy, is helping us with the decoration of the classroom. He is also giving us a helping hand with the writing of the letters for the Three Wise Men, who bring us presents on the night of the 5th of January.

Carlos has a sweet tooth and he can't stop eating the typical Christmas Spanish sweets: 'turrón' (a sweet basically made of almonds and sugar) and 'polvorones' (a dry, floury sweet also made with almonds).

All the kids at school are already playing their tambourines and singing carols. Christmas is in the air. We have also decorated our school with a Nativity Scene. Carlos is a little bit clumsy and he didn't help this time, but he will take pictures of it and upload them for you to see.
